Acoustic Imager U1 (Gas Leak Version)

The Acoustic Imager U1 is a handheld industrial acoustic imager that supports ultrasonic frequency bands. The instrument uses microphone array beamforming technology to acquire sound source distribution data, and is equipped with a high-definition camera to collect video images in real time. By integrating the sound source distribution data with the video images, the changing sound source is dynamically displayed on the screen. The Acoustic Imager U1 can help you quickly detect potential leaks in air, gas, and vacuum in noisy industrial environments; and it can store the detected images and videos for playback or report generation through image or video capture functions.

I. Introduction to Intelligent Acoustic Imager

A container is filled with gas. When the internal pressure is greater than the external pressure, due to the large pressure difference, gas will rush out from any leaks in the container. When the leak size is small and the Reynolds number is high, the escaping gas will form turbulence, and the turbulence will generate sound waves of a certain frequency near the leak. The frequency of the sound wave vibration is related to the size of the leak. Larger leaks produce audible sounds, while very small leaks with sound wave frequencies above 20KHz are inaudible to the human ear but still propagate through the air, known as airborne ultrasound. An intelligent acoustic imager is a user-friendly tool that can identify the sound frequencies of gas leaks. Using an array of 128 highly sensitive digital microphones, it converts the collected sound into a visible light image, displayed graphically on the screen, helping teams detect leaks early.

At industrial gas production or use sites, the crisscrossing of gas pipelines, the concentration of pipe joints and valves, combined with weather conditions, human damage, and natural corrosion, make gas pipelines prone to leaks. Because the sound amplitude of gas leaks is difficult for humans to perceive, when a gas leak occurs, inspectors may not be able to repair it in time, leading to untimely maintenance and causing significant economic losses and the risk of gas explosions.
